The Ondo State Governor Mr Oluwarotimi Akeredolu says that his government plans to use agriculture as a major employer of labour to achieve inclusive growth and increase the internally generated revenue of his state.
The Governor during a courtesy visit to NIRSAL head office in Abuja stated that given that Ondo state being an Agrarian state needed the right investments to become one of the top exporters of agricultural products in the country.
He stressed that currently some farmers were exporting cocoa and generating Forex using the CBN Agricultural export window.
As such the state would like to partner with NIRSAL on various projects like fisheries, tree crops and the school feeding project, agricultural mechanisation amongst other things.

Speaking earlier the Managing Director of NIRSAL Mr Aliyu Abdulhaammed in his brief presentation stated that over the last 3 years NIRSAL has successfully financed the agricultural value chain.
He stressed that NIRSAL is in the business of partnerships with stakeholders like the Federal government, State governments and farmers to ensure holistic policies and implementation strategies in the agricultural value chain.
Adding that from the moment NIRSAL gives a guarantee for a project a team keeps it in sight until resolution of the facility and the money is returned.
The meeting ended with NIRSAL’s management promising to send a team to Ondo state for an exploratory visit.
